What an SDR's first week of practice looks like

Cold call practice only works when it's specific. This is the week most new SDRs run before they touch a real dial list.

    Day 1

    Your opener

Run 10 cold-call openings back to back. The AI buyer hangs up if the first 8 seconds don't earn attention. You'll see your talk ratio and filler-word count after each attempt.

    Day 2

    The brush-off

Drill "just send me an email" and "we're all set" until the reply comes out without hesitation. These two objections kill more SDR calls than any other.

    Day 3

    Gatekeepers

Practise getting past the front desk without sounding like a script. Scored on tone, brevity and whether you gave a reason to connect you.

    Day 4

    Discovery in 90 seconds

Cold calls give you a minute and a half. Practise the three questions that qualify a prospect before they lose patience.

    Day 5

    Booking the meeting

The ask. Specific day, specific time, specific reason. Most SDRs soften it into a maybe — the scorer flags exactly where you did.

The objections SDRs hear every single day

Each one has a written breakdown and a practice call where the AI buyer says it out loud and scores your answer.

"Your product is too expensive compared"
Acknowledge price concern, then shift focus from cost to value/roi so the conversation moves from "your product is too expensive compared" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"We don't have the budget right"
Explore budget allocation and priorities, then discuss cost of waiting vs. acting now so the conversation moves from "we don't have the budget right" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"I can get similar functionality for"
Ask what they're comparing and criteria used, then uncover gaps in competitive solution so the conversation moves from "i can get similar functionality for" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"We need to see ROI proof"
Acknowledge the need for ROI validation, then ask about their success metrics so the conversation moves from "we need to see roi proof" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"Can you give us a discount"
Avoid immediate discount offers, then explore their growth trajectory and funding so the conversation moves from "can you give us a discount" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"We're already using a similar solution"
Acknowledge their current solution, then ask about limitations or pain points so the conversation moves from "we're already using a similar solution" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"This isn't a priority for us"
Explore current priorities and why, then discuss cost of delay and opportunity loss so the conversation moves from "this isn't a priority for us" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"Let's revisit this conversation in Q3"
Ask what clarity is needed, then explore what changes in q3 so the conversation moves from "let's revisit this conversation in q3" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"I need to discuss this with"
Support collaborative decision-making, then ask who else is involved and their concerns so the conversation moves from "i need to discuss this with" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"My boss needs to approve this"
Explore boss's priorities and concerns, then ask about approval process and criteria so the conversation moves from "my boss needs to approve this" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"I'm not the final decision-maker on"
Identify the actual decision-maker(s), then understand decision-making process so the conversation moves from "i'm not the final decision-maker on" to the business outcome they actually care about.
"We've never heard of your company"
Share company credentials and history, then provide customer logos and testimonials so the conversation moves from "we've never heard of your company" to the business outcome they actually care about.
