Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between close rate and win rate?
Close rate is usually measured from a stage such as proposal or demo. Win rate is measured across all qualified opportunities including no-decisions. Close rate is almost always the higher number.
What is a good close rate?
20–35% from proposal to close is a solid B2B benchmark. If you are below 15%, proposals are probably going out before the buyer has agreed there is a problem worth paying to solve.
How do I calculate lead-to-close rate?
Divide closed-won deals by the total leads worked in the same period. Compare like with like — mixing inbound and outbound leads in one figure makes the number meaningless.
Should I count deals that are still open?
No. Only include opportunities that reached a final outcome in the period, otherwise open pipeline artificially deflates the rate.
