    What is value proposition?

    TL;DR

A value proposition is a clear statement of who the product is for, what problem it solves, and the unique benefit it delivers compared to alternatives.

    What is Value Proposition?

A value proposition is a plain statement of the outcome a specific customer gets, why it matters, and why you rather than the alternative. It is not a tagline and not a feature list. The test is whether a buyer could repeat it to their boss accurately without you in the room, because that is literally what has to happen for most B2B deals to close. Strong propositions share three properties: they name a segment narrowly enough to exclude someone, they state an outcome the buyer already wants in their own language, and they are falsifiable — a claim specific enough that it could be proven wrong. 'The leading platform for modern sales teams' fails all three. 'New SDRs reach quota in eight weeks instead of six months, because they practise 200 calls before touching your list' passes.

    When to use Value Proposition

    • The first thirty seconds of a cold call or discovery call
    • Website and pitch-deck messaging
    • Equipping a champion to sell internally when you are not present

    Real examples

    • Weak: 'We help sales teams perform better with AI-powered insights.'
    • Strong: 'Your new SDRs hit quota in eight weeks instead of six months, because they run 200 practice calls before touching your list.'
    • Test: could the buyer repeat this to their CFO accurately from memory?

    Common mistakes

    • Describing the product rather than the outcome.
    • Using words no buyer says out loud — leverage, synergy, transform, empower.
    • Writing one proposition for every segment, so it lands with none of them.
    • Making a claim so vague that it cannot be tested or disproven.
